Literally...
This wreck is on a dirt road near Cortez, Nevada. I found it when I was trying to find a short cut from The Cortez Hills Gold Mine to Eureka. I ended up near Austin, Nevada and had to double back on US Route 50.
Before I reached 50 it was all dirt road meandering over alkali flats, through mountain passes and near to farms. I would like to go out and explore that area sometime when I have more time.
I suppose, in the end, the "short cut" was as long as the normal way.
It was certainly more interesting than driving on Interstate 80 and Nevada 278.

There seems to be a Nevada tradition of abandoning vehicles in the desert. Wouldn't a wrecking yard be easier? In the mean time, they do make dramatic photos.
ReplyDelete"It ran when I put it there." You know, someone is saying that...
